Indore: Indore, which has been declared india's cleanest city, has another success in its account. The National Water Award has been received by Indore. Indore has come first in the West Zone. The title has been received due to the work done by Indore for water conservation. Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Home Minister Narottam Mishra tweeted their best wishes to Indore on the success.

Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Friday announced the National Water Awards 2020, with Indore finishing first in the West Zone. Where the best work has been found in the water harvesting area, removal of encroachments, deepening, purification of sewage, water harvesting from the pond bank. UP won the first prize in the best state category. While Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu have been ranked second and third. Awards were given in 11 categories for water resources management work at the event. According to officials, the first National Water Award was presented by the Ministry of Water Power in 2018. The officials had inspected the Kabit Kheri STP plant for the National Water Award. Sewage water was stopped in the drain here. For this, drain tapping was carried out across the district.

The same sewage water was treated with STP. There is a capacity to treat 315 MLD of sewage water daily. The district had also made a bid to remove encroachments of ponds. The officials had visited the pond at Kanadia. Rainwater harvesting works on the roofs of buildings were appreciated. Water harvesting helped a lot in recharging the ground water level. This has led to increase in water level in different areas. The officials also inspected the water harvesting system constructed in several private houses. Officials had also arrived to see the water rise work on the flow of the serious river. Inspected all the works like check dam, farm pond, recharge shaft, drain trenching etc. In addition, encroachments were also removed from the banks of gambhir and choral rivers.
