Indore and Bhopal, two cities in Madhya Pradesh, have once again clinched top positions in the Swachh Survekshan 2023 rankings, showcasing remarkable cleanliness standards. The consistent performance of these cities has propelled Madhya Pradesh to the forefront, demonstrating significant advancements in various cleanliness parameters. Indore, leading the charge for seven consecutive years, continues to excel in the race for top cleanliness honors.

In recognition of their outstanding performance, the President is set to honor Indore and Bhopal during a ceremony scheduled for January 11. This prestigious event will take place in Delhi, where President Draupadi Murmu will confer accolades upon the cities for their commendable achievement.

This year's results reveal Indore securing a 7-star rating, maintaining its position as the leading city in the Open Defecation Free (ODF) and star rating categories. Meanwhile, Bhopal has earned a notable 5-star rating, reflecting their dedication to cleanliness initiatives.

Notably, the Swachh Survekshan 2023 witnessed a considerable increase in rated cities. Nearly 98% of urban bodies have attained ODF certification, contributing to a rise in the number of water-plus cities from 2 to 7. Moreover, the count of star-rated cities surged from 99 to 158 this year, underlining the widespread efforts towards cleanliness across the nation.

A list released on 6th January  highlighted the national-level recognition for cities like Indore, Bhopal, Mhow Cantt, Amarkantak, Naurojabad, and Budhni. Additionally, Madhya Pradesh as a whole will be lauded for its cleanliness endeavors.

The Swachh Survekshan results, unveiled late Saturday night, revealed the accomplishments of cities in achieving Open Defecation Free and garbage-free statuses. Impressively, 378 cities from Madhya Pradesh participated in Swachh Survekshan 2023, witnessing an increase in bodies receiving ODF Double Plus certificates.
