The Haryana Assembly elections, scheduled for October 5 with results to be announced on October 8, are set to shake up the state's political landscape. The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), led by Abhay Singh Chautala, is poised for a major comeback in Haryana, aiming to restore its previous influence.

Strategic Alliances Boost INLD's 2024 Campaign

INLD has formed a key alliance with the Lokhit Party, which is expected to boost its support among the rural and agricultural Jat community. Additionally, the partnership with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is anticipated to strengthen INLD’s appeal among Scheduled Castes (SC) voters. Political analysts believe this coalition could effectively address voter concerns in the region.

Previously, the Bagad region was predominantly served by the Indian National Congress (INC). The rise of INLD, coupled with backing from regional leaders like Gopal Kanda, is reshaping the political scenario. A significant meeting between Abhay Singh Chautala and Gopal Kanda on September 12 at Shri Tara Baba's kutiya in Sirsa marked a turning point, leading to INLD's alliance with the Haryana Lokhit Party and securing support from BSP.

Experts view INLD’s alliances with BSP and HLP as a strategic move to consolidate Jat and SC votes, particularly in Bagad. The perceived neglect of this region by Congress during Bhupendra Singh Hooda’s tenure has further galvanized support for the INLD-led coalition.

Once a dominant force in Haryana, INLD had seen a decline in recent years. However, its recent resurgence, coupled with strategic alliances, positions it as a formidable contender for at least 30 seats in the upcoming elections.

As the elections approach, Abhay Singh Chautala and INLD are preparing to reclaim their influence in Haryana politics. The success of their strategy will be determined in the coming months.
