Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) from Wayanad, will visit the constituency this weekend to thank voters for their overwhelming support in the recent bypoll. Accompanied by her brother Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, she will engage with constituents during a series of public meetings and receptions across the region.

The siblings are scheduled to arrive at Kozhikode airport at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2024. Their itinerary begins with a public meeting at Mukkam in the Thiruvambadi Assembly constituency of Kozhikode district at 12 p.m. Following this, receptions will be held at Karulai in Nilambur, Vandoor, and Edavanna in Malappuram district at 2:15 p.m., 3:30 p.m., and 4:30 p.m., respectively.

This visit marks Priyanka Gandhi’s first public address in Wayanad after her decisive victory in the bypoll, where she secured a staggering margin of 4,10,931 votes. The bypoll was necessitated after Rahul Gandhi vacated the seat earlier this year.

Priyanka officially assumed office as Wayanad MP on Thursday, drawing enthusiastic chants of "Bharat Jodo" from supporters. She took the oath holding a booklet of the Indian Constitution, a symbolic gesture tied to the opposition's recent campaigns in Parliament.

Her victory is considered a historic milestone in her political journey, nearly two decades after she began campaigning for her mother, Sonia Gandhi, in Raebareli and her brother in Amethi during the 2004 general elections. It also represents a significant boost for the Congress party, strengthening its foothold in Kerala and adding momentum to its national revival efforts.

This weekend's events are expected to underscore Priyanka Gandhi's commitment to her constituency and her role as a key leader in the Congress party.
