Interim order of K'taka HC states that no religious symbols are permitted

BENGALURU: The Karnataka High Court, hearing the hijab case, ordered on Thursday that no religious symbols be worn by students until the court issues a final ruling, thus ending the use of both the hijab and saffron shawls at school and college.

A three-judge bench comprised of Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi, Justice Krishna S. Dixit, and Justice Khaji Jaibunnesa Mohiyuddin issued the interim ruling. "In the case of the hijab row, we would like to issue an interim order. Every day, we will hear about this issue "According to the Chief Justice.  The bench adjourned the case till Monday, saying that peace must return to the state and that schools and institutions must reopen as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, A three-judge bench of the Karnataka High Court, hearing petitions on the hijab controversy, directed the state government on Thursday to reopen schools in the state.

As the bench of Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi, Justice Krishna S. Dixit, and Justice Khaji Jaibunnesa Mohiyuddin began hearing the case, the Chief Justice instructed Advocate General Prabhuling Navadagi to open schools throughout the state.
