International Civil Aviation Day 2022: International Civil Aviation Day is being marked globally on December 7, 2022. As we all realise that the aviation industry has become massive and has a great impact on our lives. International Civil Aviation Day is celebrated to recollect how traveling worldwide has become so easy and to raise awareness of the significance and contributions that the airline industry has made in all sectors.

The purpose of International Civil Aviation Day is to raise and maintain awareness of the value of international civil aviation for national social and economic development as well as the unique contribution of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in fostering international cooperation and the realisation of a truly global rapid transit network at the service of all humanity.

The importance of aviation as an engine of global connectivity has never been more relevant to the Chicago Convention's objectives to look to international travel as a key enabler of global peace and prosperity as the UN and world nations have now adopted Agenda 2030, ushering in a new era in global sustainable development.

The ICAO Council decides on a special anniversary subject for International Civil Aviation Day every five years, to coincide with ICAO anniversaries. Representatives from the Council decide on a single subject for the entire four-year interval that occurs between these anniversary years.

The Council has determined that the topic will be "Advancing Innovation for Global Aviation Development" from this point forward until 2023.

75 Years of Global Connection The International Civil Aviation network now carries more than 4 billion passengers a year, 75 years after the founding of ICAO.

With more than 10 million women and men employed in the industry, which supports 65.5 million jobs and USD 2.7 trillion in worldwide economic activity, 120,000 flights and 12 million passengers are securely transported to their destinations every day. According to research by the Air Transport Action Group, the aviation industry supports at least 65.5 million jobs and 3.6% of worldwide economic activity due to its wider supply chain, knock-on effects, and jobs in the tourism industry (ATAG).
