International Court to hear the verdict on Kulbhushan Jadhav by the end of this month

Islamabad: The Kulbhushan Jadhav case in the International Court of Justice in The Hague is likely to come to a verdict by the end of this month. In a way, India versus Pakistan is all eyeing this issue. The International Court of Justice in The Hague from February 18 to 21 this year presented its claims and arguments on the issue by India and Pakistan.

It may be mentioned that Kulbhushan Jadhav, a citizen of Indian origin, was arrested by Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI from Iran. Jadhav was later sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on false charges of espionage. Since 2016, India has been demanding Jadhav's Consular Access. India has been adamant on the demand of its Consular Access since the Indian Embassy in Islamabad was imprisoned by Pakistan.

The Pakistani army court had in April 2017 sentenced Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav to death on charges of espionage and terrorism. India had approached the International Court of Justice in May of the year against it. A 10-member bench of the International Court of Justice had on May 18, 2017 restrained Pakistan from punishing Kulbhushan Jadhav till a judicial verdict in the case.
