Journalists and bankers were given internet facilities to do their work. The government has taken this step during the ban in Kashmir. Minister of State for Telecom Sanjay Dhotre said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that state governments have the right to issue orders to temporarily suspend internet service to maintain law and order in the state or in part. Provision has been made in the Temporary Suspension of Telecom Service (Public Emergency or Public Safety) Rules 2017.

In his statement, Dhotre said that neither the Department of Telecommunications or the Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered the state government to shut down the Internet. The government is conscious of the needs of ordinary people and other professionals including journalists.

Apart from this, Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muralitharan said in the Lok Sabha that there are 337 Indian prisoners including fishermen in the custody of Pakistan. Most of them are fishermen. However, the neighboring country has reported 261 of them in custody. In response to another question, Muralitharan said that India wants to have normal relations with Pakistan. He said, 'India believes that every bilateral and peaceful way should be resolved.'
