KL Rahul and Aaron Finch took command of the opening from Punjab to bat first. Chris Gayle is not playing in this match and in his place Finch came to the opening. Although he once again performed just like his last three matches, he scored only 2 runs.
Rahul, who performed best in the last five matches, could not do too much and got 23 runs and became a victim of Plunkett. Kings XI Punjab scored 63/3 in 9 overs. Karun Nair (13) and Yuvraj Singh (2) are on the crease. As the third wicket for Punjab, Mayank Agarwal (21) was bowled by Liam Planck. This wicket dropped on the score of 60.
