Royal Challenger Bangalore’s captain Virat Kohli smashed his first century against Kolkata Night Riders and this is the Kohli’s fifth century of his IPL career and first of this season. He made his century in just 57 balls, hitting a whopping nine fours and four sixes. Kohli and Ali shared 90 runs off 43 balls and there was no looking back after Ali's assault. Kohli, who scored his first 50 off 40 balls, changed gears in the second half of his innings. Such was his domination that Kohli took just 17 balls for his second fifty. RCB scored 91 runs off the last five overs to record their highest total of the season.

After losing seven matches, Royal Challengers Bangalore are looking for its second win of the season. Their chances of making it to the playoffs are slim already but it is a welcome century for Kohli, who has experienced a lean run this season in comparison to his lofty standards. In the last 24 balls of the innings, RCB gathered 100 runs for one wicket. His belligerence helped him to put up another 50-plus partnership stand with Marcus Stoinis. The last over of the innings began with Kohli on 95 and he had to take a single off the first. Then Stoinis hit a six and after that ran a single. However a second run was probably on, Kohli sent him back with a smile on his face. The next ball, Kohli flicked towards long leg, Kuldeep Yadav made a misfield at the ropes and allowed his international captain to complete the fifth century of his IPL career.
