No play, no salary. This may also happen to the players who signed the IPL this year, as it has been postponed. Until then it is unlikely to be held until the BCCI prepares its alternate window at the end of the year. A senior official of the IPL franchise said, "The mode of payment of IPL is such that 15% of the amount is paid a week before the tournament starts. 65% is given during the tournament. The remaining 20% is given within the stipulated time after the completion of the tournament. The BCCI has special guidelines. Certainly nothing has been given to any player.
Ashok Malhotra, president of BCCI Players Association (Indian Cricketers Association), admitted that the economic impact of not having a season of IPL would be huge. They feel that if the loss is in thousands of crores due to the ongoing lockdown to deal with the Kovid-19 epidemic, even the domestic players will have to bear the cut.
Right now the BCCI is looking for an alternative window as the chance of getting IPL in May is very less, but nothing has been decided yet. The country currently has a 21-day lockdown that will end on April 14 while the IPL has been postponed until April 15. So far, more than 37,000 people have died worldwide due to the coronavirus epidemic. This has led to considerable economic upheaval, with players from England and Australia acknowledging that their salaries may be cut.
