New Delhi: The popular T20 league of Indian cricket IPL is now getting ready for its new season. After a successful 13th season in the UAE, preparations for the new version of the league have begun. According to reports, the players may be auctioned on February 11 for IPL 2021.
The deadline for the eight franchises to retain and release the players is 20 January. All this was decided on Monday during the online meeting of the IPL Governing Council. BCCI has yet to determine dates and locations for the 2021 edition. The venue for the auction has not been decided yet. However, there is a possibility that it can be organized only during the first and second Test of the Test series between India and England. While the first Test between India and England is scheduled on 5-9 February, the second match will be played between 13-17.
The last season was delayed by about five months due to the Corona epidemic and lockdown, while it was also held in the UAE in view of the risk of infection in the country. However once again it is expected that the 14th season of the IPL will be held in India on its own schedule. Like every year, the purse of franchisees is expected to increase by Rs 3 crore this year. At present, Chennai Super Kings have the most work left, while the purse of Kings XI Punjab has the highest amount of 16. 5 crores.
