New Delhi: Delhi Capitals( DC) assistant coach Shane Watson feels that the decision to hand over the reins of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to Faf Du Plessis was the right one. He also said that it was the right move after Virat Kohli quit the captaincy after the end of the 2021 season. Watson admitted that RCB was one of his favourites even before the IPL started. He has termed rcb's auction planning as excellent.
Watson said on the Grade Cricketer podcast, "Even before the start of this IPL, RCB was one of my favorite teams. Because how much better she did in the auction and she was balanced in keeping her team together. Faf du Plessis, it was a big buy for them. Because knowing that Virat is going to quit the captaincy, Faf was probably one of the few players who I think were going to do a great job of knowing how to extract the best out of Virat. '
"The inclusion and leadership of Faf was a strategically brilliant decision. He is a great man and a very brilliant leader. A very kind, caring and sympathetic person. He is always a good person to do a good job together with Kohli, Maxwell and Hazlewood. '
