New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has fixed the date for the resumption of the Indian Premier League 2021 (IPL 2021) to be held in UAE. The first match of the second phase will be played on September 19, while the final match will be held on October 15. Dussehra is also on the same day. Talking to media, a BCCI official said that the discussions between BCCI and emirates cricket board (ECB) were good and the Board of India is confident that the rest of the IPL matches will be held successfully in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
According to media reports, the official said the discussion was really good and ECB had given oral approval to host the tournament even before the BCCI SGM. It was sealed last week. The first match will be played on September 19 after the season resumes. The final will be played on October 15. BCCI was always looking for 25 days of vebue to host the remaining matches.
When questioned about the situation regarding availability of foreign players, the official said talks are on and BCCI expect positive results. He said that 'the discussion is on and we are expecting most of the foreign players to be available. If some players are not able to come, we will see what to do next. But, now, we are expecting that the 14th edition in UAE will be a great event'.
