MUMBAI: Former cricketer Robin Uthappa believes that young Yashasvi Jaiswal, who recently scored an amazing century for Rajasthan Royals against Mumbai Indians in an IPL 2023 match, is one of Indian cricket's up-and-coming talents.

Mumbai Indians kept their dreams of making the 2023 IPL playoffs alive with a thrilling six-wicket victory over the Rajasthan Royals on Sunday night at the Wankhede Stadium. Yashasvi's 124 runs (62b, 16x4, 8x6) in the first inning gave the Royals the most runs scored in a single game this season and earned him the Orange Cap in the process.

They gave Mumbai a target of 213 runs, which MI met with to innings of 55 runs from Suryakumar Yadav (29b, 8x4, 2x6) and a game-winning 45 runs from Tim David (2x4, 5x6) in the final 14 balls of play.

With a 124 run innings and his first-ever IPL century, Yashasvi Jaiswal had the most prolific scoring performance of any batter this season despite the team's defeat.

"He's one of Indian cricket's up-and-coming superstars. Right away, he made it clear what he wanted. Unafraid of batting and getting out there, he is quite courageous in his approach. He has worked extremely hard this season, and it is now beginning to pay off. In praising the young opener, JioCinema IPL expert Robin Uthappa said, "Sixteen fours tonight and some scintillating sixes.

David used three sixes in the final over of the Mumbai run chase to seal the victory with three balls remaining.

Parthiv Patel, a former wicketkeeper for India, praised Australia's ability to finish runs and the significance of the position in T20 cricket.

He can deliver under pressure and aid in their victories. When you are attempting to beat a huge total, the finisher's role is crucial. Tim David is providing the large innings with a high strike rate that you need in the lower order. Tim David has the reach and strength to punish you for any errors, and under pressure, a bowler is aware of this. He can knock a six or a boundary, as we witnessed today," Parthiv said.

Even though Mmbai Indians, can rejoice in a victory that kept them in the playoff hunt, Uthappa is concerned about the sizable flaws in their bowling that have recently become apparent.

"This game will give the impression that everything is well with the Mumbai Indians, but it's not. They really need to work on their bowling and how they finish innings because, especially in the previous three games, they were on track to defend 170 and 180 runs before something happens in the final five overs and they start to lose their way. Then, in the final five overs, they concede 60, 70, 80, or 90 runs, which is absurd for them, said Uthappa.
