Iran Issues Warning to Israel Following Alleged Killing of Official in Syria

Iran has issued a stern warning to Israel, urging Tel Aviv to brace itself for potential repercussions akin to a past event dubbed as "October 7." The warning stems from Iran's accusation of Israel's involvement in the killing of Seyed Razi Mousavi in Syria.

Ramadan Sharif, the spokesperson for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, conveyed in a statement that Israel had erred in assassinating Mousavi. Sharif emphasized that there would be consequences, both direct and indirect, for this action.

Sharif linked the recent events to previous acts of retaliation, notably citing the events of October 7 as part of avenging the assassination of Qassem Soleimani. However, conflicting reports have emerged, with Hamas allegedly denying any connection between the Al-Aqsa Flood operations and seeking revenge for Soleimani's death.

Qassem Soleimani, a prominent figure in the IRGC, was purportedly killed in a US drone strike in Baghdad in January 2020. Meanwhile, Seyed Reza Mousavi, another high-ranking IRGC member, was reportedly killed in Syria on Monday, purportedly as a result of an Israeli airstrike. Sharif accused Israel of attempting to escalate the conflict in Gaza into a broader American-Iranian regional confrontation. He stated, "The Israelis aim to sow discord in the region following their strategic setback."

Iranian state media depicted Mousavi as "one of the most senior advisors of the IRGC in Syria."

This situation intensifies tensions between Iran and Israel, raising concerns about potential further escalation in the region.
