Washington: Abu Ibrahim al-Hashemi al-Quraishi, the head of the Islamic State (ISIS), has been killed in a US Army operation in Syria. US President Joe Biden has confirmed that Qureshi was killed. Qureshi was hiding in a three-story building located in the Syrian city on the Turkish border.
The way the U.S. Army launched an operation to capture al-Qaeda terrorist Osama bin Laden. A similar operation was also launched to nab Qureshi. However, before the US military could reach Qureshi, he blew himself up with a bomb. U.S. President Biden has called it 'cowardice.' Earlier in October 2019, when the US military launched an operation to capture ISIS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Then he too had hidden in a tunnel and blew himself up along with his children after being surrounded.
Prior to the operation, people in the western Syrian city of Atmeh were also warned by U.S. forces. According to the news agency, one woman said that US soldiers were warning from the loudspeaker that if you didn't leave, you would also be killed.
