Islamic radicals took fake gold business to fund anti social activities, Tamil Nadu

Two Muslim fundamentalists who were arrested in 2014 in connection with the murder of Hindu Munnani worker KP Suresh Kumar in Ambattur, were arrested again by the Chennai police on Saturday for allegedly trying to mortgage fake gold ornaments at a shop in Puzhal. Abdul Hakkim and Abu Tahir, along with two others including a woman were arrested by the Police. 

Puzhal police said Abdul Hakkim, 50, of Vaniyambadi and Abu Tahir, 43, of Padi, who are now out on bail, were arrested along with a woman named Haseen, wife of Hakkim, and Ashok. Abdul hakkim and Abu Tahir were two of the four member assailant team who executed the murder of Suresh Kumar in June 2014. These two were arrested over the complaint of fake gold cheating. Police informed they are looking for a person named Rafeeq, who supplies fake jewellery to the gang. Rafeeq also has charges of murder, fake currency and hawala, against him. 

The Police sources said, the gang had cheated at least six other pawnshop owners in Adyar, Rajamangalam and Red Hills in a similar fashion and collected lakhs of rupees. the amount is believed to have routed for fundamental activitie. In some instances, they were also involved in holding kangaroo courts to settle disputes, collecting huge sum, sources said. It is said that the gang comes to pawnshop with 40 per cent gold ornaments hence the owners find difficult to find.
