Joint Operation Busts International Drug Smuggling Network in Punjab, 7 arrested

Amritsar: In a significant crackdown on trans-border narcotic smuggling networks, the Punjab Police and Border Security Force (BSF) conducted a joint operation, successfully dismantling an international drug smuggling module in Punjab's Fazilka. The operation resulted in the arrest of seven drug smugglers and the seizure of 5.47 kilograms of pure-grade heroin along with Rs 1.7 lakh in cash.

Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav shared the details of the operation on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "Fazilka Police & BSF, in a joint operation, have busted an international narco smuggling module and arrested 7 drug smugglers with seizure of 5.47 Kg pure grade heroin, Rs1.7 lakh drug money, 40 cartridges and more."

DGP Yadav indicated that preliminary investigations revealed the arrested individuals were in contact with a Pakistan-based smuggler. The authorities have registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

"FIR under NDPS Act has been registered and investigations are ongoing to establish backward & forward linkages. @PunjabPoliceInd is committed to dismantling the drug networks and making our state drug-free," added the DGP in his post.
