The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a coalition of armed groups backed by Iran, launched drones and ballistic missiles at Israeli military sites on Sunday, marking a notable intensification of the ongoing conflict.

The strikes occurred as Israel persisted in its operations against Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon. The targeted locations included military bases within Israel and the Israel-occupied Golan Heights in Syria.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq has claimed responsibility for drone strikes targeting the Israeli Golani observation base in the "occupied Palestinian territories." This announcement follows a series of aerial alerts in the Golan Heights, with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirming the incident is "over" but not providing further details.

On Sunday, the group launched another drone strike in the Israeli-occupied Jordan Valley. These attacks mark a continuation of the group's actions, which align with their pledge to support Palestinians following the October 7 conflict last year, when Hamas militants attacked Israel, igniting the Gaza war.

Iraqi Shi'ite factions, along with other pro-Iranian groups, have vowed to increase their attacks in solidarity with the Palestinians. The Islamic Resistance in Iraq claims its drones successfully struck locations in the Jordan Valley, though the extent of the damage remains unclear.

In response, the Israeli military confirmed that interceptors were deployed after detecting an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) crossing into Israeli airspace from Syria. This comes amidst escalating tension in the Middle East, especially following an incident involving Hezbollah equipment, which heightened concerns in the region. Hezbollah and Israel have engaged in some of the most intense cross-border exchanges in recent months, in parallel with the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
