Dhaka: Three weeks after his release from prison in Bangladesh, Islamist leader Muhammad Jasimuddin Rahmani has openly called for the secession of Jammu and Kashmir from India, urging the support of Pakistan and Afghanistan-based radicals to achieve his agenda. Rahmani, who leads the extremist group Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), has been a vocal supporter of the terrorist organization Al Qaeda.

The revelations were made in a report by The Print on Saturday, 7th September, which also highlighted Rahmani’s appeal to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to declare independence from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government. He claimed he would support India’s dissolution with the help of Khalistani separatists. A video of Rahmani’s incendiary remarks, reportedly made from a hospital room, went viral on social media platforms, including YouTube.

Rahmani’s Threats Against India and Support for Khalistan
In the video, Rahmani warned India, stating, “Bangladesh is not like Sikkim or Bhutan. It is a country of 18 crore Muslims. If you take a step towards Bangladesh, we will tell China to close the chicken’s neck." He further threatened, "We will tell the Seven Sisters (Northeast India) to join the freedom movement and ask Kashmir to get ready for independence. Pakistan and Afghanistan together will help Kashmir gain freedom."

Rahmani also extended his solidarity to Khalistani extremists, encouraging them to call for the secession of Punjab from India. “To those Sikhs who are Khalistanis, your time has come,” he declared, expressing his desire to see Delhi captured by radicals.

Special Appeal to Mamata Banerjee
Rahmani made a special appeal to West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, urging her to "free Bengal from Modi’s rule and declare independence." He also promised the support of Khalistanis in the broader goal of weakening India's unity.

Plans to Capture Delhi
The Islamist leader expressed hope that the undemocratic ousting of Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would inspire similar actions in India. Rahmani ominously claimed that the Tawhid population of Bangladesh would unite to challenge India and that the day was not far when “the flags of Tawhid will flutter above Delhi.”

Criminal History of Muhammad Jasimuddin Rahmani
Muhammad Jasimuddin Rahmani has a long history of involvement in extremist activities. He was arrested in August 2013 in connection with inciting violence, alongside 30 members of his extremist outfit, ABT. Rahmani has been involved in six criminal cases, with a charge sheet filed in each of them. In December 2015, he was sentenced to five years in jail for his role in the murder of blogger Rajib Haider, but he has since completed his sentence.

Despite multiple charges related to terrorism, Rahmani has been granted bail in several cases, and his trial in others remains pending. His organization, Ansarullah Bangla Team, was banned in Bangladesh in 2015 following a string of murders targeting bloggers, writers, and LGBT activists.

The threat posed by Rahmani and his radical ideology continues to cast a shadow over regional security, as his recent calls for Kashmir's secession and India's dissolution have raised alarms across South Asia.
