Israel: Several Holocaust survivors have traveled to Berlin with Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid for a visit.
"When we got off the plane and landed on German soil, we were received by the German Military Honor Guard," Lapid said after landing on Sunday night.

"This is our victory as a people and a country, his victory as the son of a Holocaust survivor, and mine too. We will not soon forget.
Discussions are on the agenda with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Monday.

Before his departure, Lapid said the purpose of the visit was to finalize a document on strategic, economic and security cooperation that would be signed in Berlin and to coordinate the position on the nuclear issue.

On Monday afternoon, Scholz and I will hold a joint press conference.
Germany is one of the countries promoting the renewal of the 2015 international nuclear deal with Iran. Israel feels the existential threat from Iran and believes the agreement is inadequate,

That's why she wants to stop the deal from resuming. Under then-President Donald Trump, the US unilaterally withdrew from the agreement in 2018.

After a holocaust-related outburst by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in mid-August, Lapid and Scholz agreed to meet. In a joint press conference with Scholz, Abbas accused Israel of committing several "Holocausts" against the Palestinians, which angered the public.

The very next day the German chancellor clearly distanced himself. Many criticized it as coming too late.
Scholz and Lapid visited the House of Wannsee conference in Berlin on Monday afternoon.

It was here in 1942 that senior Nazis called a meeting to plan the mass murder of Jews.
