Hamas Deputy Chief Killed in Israeli Strike on Lebanon; Hezbollah Vows Retaliation- The Israeli airstrike in Lebanon reportedly killed Saleh al-Aruri, the deputy leader of Hamas, a Palestinian militant group. This marks an extension of the conflict between Israel and Palestinian militants into Lebanon.

The strike, which targeted a Hamas office in Beirut's southern suburbs, also resulted in the deaths of Aruri's bodyguards and several others, according to Lebanese media. Israel had previously vowed to destroy Hamas following their attacks on October 7.

Israeli officials did not directly confirm Aruri's death but stated they were ready for any situation that might arise. In response, Hezbollah, an ally of Hamas in Lebanon, promised retaliation, calling it a serious attack on Lebanon.

French President Emmanuel Macron urged Israel to avoid escalating tensions, especially in Lebanon, during a phone call with an Israeli official.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas has caused significant casualties, with around 1,140 people killed in Israel, mostly civilians, and many held hostage by militants. Israel's response, including bombardments and ground offensives, has resulted in the deaths of thousands in Gaza, including numerous women and children.

The strike in Lebanon raises concerns about the conflict expanding beyond its current scope.
