Israel-Palestine Tensions Overview:  Palestinian militants have reported the capture of Israeli individuals after infiltrating Israel from the Gaza Strip as part of a large-scale attack. The orchestrators of this operation, Hamas, the ruling faction in the besieged enclave, have asserted that their surprise assault is a direct response to the perceived desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque and a surge in settler-initiated violence.
