New Delhi: S. Somanath, the head of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), provides insights into the challenges he has faced throughout his long career in his forthcoming autobiography titled "Nilavu Kudicha Simhangal" (translated as "Lions that drank the moonlight"). While his book delves into various hurdles, he clarifies that it is not meant to criticize any specific individuals.

In response to a report that suggested critical remarks about former ISRO chief K. Sivan in his autobiography, Somanath stated, "More persons might be eligible for a significant post. I just tried to bring out that particular point. I didn't target any particular individual in this regard," as reported by the media.

Somanath underscores that individuals on their path to high-ranking positions invariably face challenges and obstacles, as he has experienced in his own journey. He emphasizes, "Persons holding such key positions may have to go through several challenges. One among them is the challenges with regard to getting positions in an organisation."

In his book, Somanath also addresses the lack of clarity regarding the Chandrayaan-2 mission's failure. He points out that during the time of the landing, it was not explicitly communicated that there was a communication failure and the mission would result in a crash landing. He believes in the importance of honestly communicating what transpired, as it enhances transparency within the organization.

Somanath reiterates that his autobiography is intended to serve as an inspirational account for those aspiring to overcome challenges and barriers on their journey to success rather than to criticize anyone.

Notably, India made history with the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3, ISRO's third lunar mission, on the Moon's south pole after a 41-day journey. This achievement made India the first country to land on the lunar south pole and the fourth nation, following the US, Russia, and China, to land on the Moon.
