The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) is ramping up for a series of groundbreaking space missions over the next couple of years, focusing on exploration, communication, and innovative ventures.

Looking ahead to 2024, Isro has laid out an ambitious roadmap consisting of 12 significant missions, all aimed at expanding India's prowess in space exploration.

Among the most eagerly anticipated missions is the NASA-Isro Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR), a collaborative venture between Nasa and Isro. Scheduled for liftoff in 2024, NISAR is poised to become the pioneer dual-band radar imaging satellite, delivering crucial Earth observation data. This mission underscores the burgeoning global partnerships in space exploration.

Apart from NISAR, Isro is venturing into other ambitious projects. The INSAT-3DS, a communication satellite, is part of the Indian National Satellite System series, playing a pivotal role in meteorology and disaster management.

RISAT-1B and Resourcesat-3 are slated to amplify India's capabilities in remote sensing, while TDS01 and SPADEX aim to drive technological research and experimentation, propelling lunar missions.

Continuing the legacy of its predecessors, Oceansat-3A will contribute to oceanography and atmospheric studies. The Indian Data Relay Satellite System (IDRSS) strives to establish a real-time communication link with scientific satellites. GSAT-20 is anticipated to reinforce telecommunication services, and NVS-02 will augment navigation systems.

Gaganyaan: The Next Frontier

Isro isn't solely focused on unmanned missions; the Gaganyaan Programme is preparing for test flights, eventually leading to sending Indian astronauts into space.

This groundbreaking initiative will mark India's entry into human spaceflight, a monumental achievement for the nation. Additionally, the Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV) project is positioned to showcase technologies for cost-effective space access.
