ISRO Chief S. Somanath recently highlighted that Bhuvan provides data ten times more detailed than what Google offers. This announcement underscores the introduction of two new tools, Bhuvan-Panchayat and NDEM, aimed at enhancing data access and utility.

Somanath explained that these tools are essential in bridging information gaps and providing stakeholders at various levels with valuable insights derived from satellite imagery and other spatial data. The continuous improvement of Geoportal-Bhuvan strengthens India's digital infrastructure, offering robust solutions to meet diverse needs across the nation.

BHUVAN - India's Own Geo Portal by ISRO
BHUVAN, often called the Indian version of Google Maps, is a versatile satellite application platform developed by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). It allows users to explore 2D and 3D representations of the Earth's surface, with a focus on India.

This platform offers highly detailed images of Indian locations, with resolutions up to 1 meter, making it more detailed than other virtual globe software. However, for security reasons, military installations are not included in the imagery. The content is available in four local languages, ensuring accessibility for a broader audience.
