Jackie Shroff is one of the renowned actors in Bollywood. He has been featured in various Blockbuster films. His career span lasted for 40 years and has worked in about 220 films in 13 languages. On his Birthday have a look on his interesting journey.

Jackie Shroff was born on 01 February 1957 in Udgir, Maharashtra and was named Jai Kishan Kakubhai Shroff. His father was Gujarati while his mother was from Kazakhstan. Jackie spent in Chawl and that too in great poverty. The financial condition of Jackie Shroff's family was not good due to which he was expelled from school in the 11th class. 

Jackie has done various odd jobs in life in order to reach there. He tried working as a chef in Taj Hotel and as a flight attendant in Air India but was rejected at both due to lack of qualifications. He once revealed his father was betrayed by his uncle and he was thrown out of the house. He said, 'My father was accused of this. After that I started living in a three-room chawl in Malabar Hill. The real Jaggu Dada of our chawl was my brother. Whenever the people of the colony were in need, he used to come to help.”

He revealed that he was 10 years old, his brother had died. Jackie says, 'My brother saw a man drowning in the sea one day. He immediately jumped in to save her. However, he could not swim. Because of this he also started drowning. When I saw him drowning, I threw a cable line towards him. He caught that cable, but after some time that cable had slipped from his hand. I stood and watched him drown. After this, I took an oath that I will help the people of the colony.”

On the professional front, Jackie Shroff made her Bollywood debut in the year 1982 with Devanand's film 'Swami Dada'. However, he got recognition from Subhash Ghai's film Hero. After the film Hero became a hit, there was a line of makers outside his chawl. Some makers used to stand outside the toilet ready to sign Jackie. He worked in Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Gujarati to English films and earned a lot of money along with the name.
