External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar will pay a 2-day visit to Indonesia starting  Thursday to attend a meeting of foreign ministers of the G20 countries.

"To attend the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting (FMM), External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will go to Bali, Indonesia on July 7 and 8", the statement from the MEA read. The summit, which will cover crucial global issues like the food and energy security resulting from the Ukraine conflict, is also expected to include the foreign ministers of China and Russia.

Announcing Jaishankar's visit,  the Ministry of External Affairs said on Tuesday that he is likely to hold several bilateral meetings with his counterparts from other G20 member states.

It was said that Jaishankar's participation will improve India's relations with G20 members. The relevance of India's participation in the impending FMM meetings is increased by its membership in the G20 troika and its upcoming G20 presidency. We are currently extending the Indonesian Presidency with steadfast support and we will go forward with discussions on current global challenges in an effort to produce significant results during our Presidency," the MEA added.
