New Delhi: Students on a sit-in to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Jamia Millia Islamia will gherao the Uttar Pradesh Bhavan in Delhi on Friday. The students of Jamia are going to lay siege to express their opposition to Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath.
According to the convening Jamia Coordination Committee to oppose the Citizenship Amendment Act, the Uttar Pradesh government is firing on protesters for opposing CAA, which is illegal. On this step of the UP government, students are preparing to lay siege to UP Bhawan in Delhi to register a protest. The Jamia Coordination Committee has demanded the resignation of CM Yogi Adityanath.
According to the committee, 20 people have died due to police firing during the CAA protests in Uttar Pradesh. Committee members have said that the administration has closed 67 shops in Muzaffarnagar. Apart from this, it is being claimed that thousands of people opposing CAA across the state have been put in jail. According to Shamiya of the Jamia Coordination Committee, preparations are being made to encircle the UP Bhawan against these actions of the Uttar Pradesh Police.
