Uproar over Mehbooba's statement, BJP workers detained for unfurling tricolour at Lal Chowk

Srinagar: The statement made by People's Democratic Party (PDP) President and former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti on the tricolour has caused stir. On Monday morning, BJP workers protested against Mehbooba Mufti in Srinagar on Monday morning. The BJP workers from Kupwara reached the famous Lal Chowk in Srinagar and tried to unfurl the tricolour.

In fact, some BJP workers from Kupwara had arrived at the clock tower of Lal Chowk, which was stopped by the police. Four BJP workers were taken into custody. The TIRANGA yatra will be taken up by the BJP on Monday. Earlier on Sunday, ABVP activists had raised slogans outside the PDP office in Jammu. The tricolor was also hoisted outside the PDP office.

PDP supremo Mehbooba Mufti has recently been released from detention. Since then, there has been a political upheaval in the valley. Mehbooba Mufti had recently made a statement which created a lot of commotion. Mehbooba Mufti had said, "I will not raise any flag other than Jammu and Kashmir. We will also lift the tricolour at the time when our flag returns. But unless our own flag, which has been taken over by the bandits, we will not hand over any other flag."
