Srinagar: Three persons, including a security guard, were injured in an encounter between militants and security forces after firing on a Border Security Force (BSF) convoy in Kulgam district of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. The security forces have now achieved a breakthrough in this encounter. According to IG Vijay Kumar, one terrorist has been killed in the encounter. The search for the entire building has been completed and the operation is over.

Officials said he was on his way to Srinagar from Jammu when the BSF convoy was attacked. "The terrorists opened fire on a convoy of BSF on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at Malpora in Qazigund area in Kulgam district," a police spokesman said, noting that no one was injured in the initial attack, and the militants were later rounded up. Police quoted Kashmir IG Vijay Kumar as saying, "The terrorists had opened fire on BSF convoy at Kulgam on the National Highway. No injuries were reported in the attack, after which the terrorists were rounded up."

Officials said an encounter had started between security forces and militants after civilians were evacuated from the area. He said one CPRF jawan was injured in intermittent firing between the two sides. According to officials, two civilians who sustained bullet injuries have been admitted to a hospital in Anantnag.
