Why Kashmir's Muslims "pelt stones" at security forces? Attacks again after Jumma prayers
Share:

Srinagar: 'Freedom' and 'anti-India slogans' were raised by Islamic fundamentalists after Friday (April 8, 2022) prayers at Jamia, the state's largest mosque in Srinagar, union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The crowd that had gathered for the Jumei prayers was raising Freedom slogans and supporting Zakir Musa. Zakir Musa was the head of terror outfit Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, who was killed by the Indian Army during an encounter in May 2019.

Journalist Ashraf Wani has shared a video of Jamia Masjid on social media in which Islamic fundamentalists can be heard shouting slogans of separation from India. In the video shared by Wani, Muslims are seen shouting slogans of 'Nara e Takbir, Allahu Akbar' along with slogans of 'Nara e Takbir, Allahu Akbar'. Not only this, stones were also pelted outside the mosque with slogans of freedom, where Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF jawans were deployed in view of security. However, the manner in which the security forces were pelted with stones on Friday is a rare incident since the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019.

However, as soon as the fundamentalists started pelting stones, the law enforcement officials, who came into action immediately after that, chased away the mob. Earlier last month, CRPF DG Kuldeep Singh had admitted that ever since Article 370 was revoked from Jammu and Kashmir, incidents of stone-pelting in the Valley had come down. On the occasion of the DG Parade held ahead of the 83rd Raising Day celebrations of the CRPF on March 16, 2022, he had said, "After the abrogation of Article 370, the incidents of stone-pelting have come down to almost zero. But Friday's incident at Jama Masjid has again raised the question of whether Islamic extremism in the valley has started raising its head again.''
