Hagibis storm wreaks havoc inJapan, 70 people killed, 37 rivers dam destroyed

Tokyo: The death toll due to Hagibis has risen to 70 and more than 200 people are injured while 13 people are still reported missing. This information was given on Tuesday in local media reports. The death toll from Hagibis, one of the worst storms in Japan's history, is expected to increase further.

The figure of the dead in the previous storm was 58. Hagibis knocked in Japan on Saturday. Heavy rains and strong winds along with severe storm created havoc all around. Rivers across the country caused widespread flooding. In Chiba province, people also had to face tornado. According to a report, protective dams on 37 rivers have been destroyed, while 161 rivers have been flooded in 16 Japanese provinces.

The storm have caused the most damage to Fukushima, Miyagi, Kanagawa, Tochigi, Saitama, Nagano and Shizuoka Prefectures. According to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, 138,000 households in 13 provinces are living without water, while electricity supply in 34,000 households is disrupted due to which people are living without electricity. Relief and rescue operations continue for the third day.
