NEW DELHI: Member of the House of Representatives of Japan, Hagiuda Koichi will meet with BJP President J P Nadda at the party Headquarters in New Delhi today, January 11.

Hagiuda is also the Chairperson of the Policy Research Council of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan. He served as Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary in the late Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe’s government.

The Liberal Democratic Party of Japan's Policy Research Council is presided over by Hagiuda. He formerly held the positions of Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology from 2019 to 2021 as well as Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry from October 2021 to August 2022.In the administration of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, he also held the position of Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary.

Hagiuda Koichi was appointed Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) on October 4, 2021. He also assumed the roles of  Minister for Economic Cooperation with Russia, Minister in charge of Industrial Competitiveness, Minister in charge of the Response to the Economic Impact caused by the Nuclear Accident and Minister of State for the Nuclear Damage Compensation and Decommissioning Facilitation Corporation.
