Yes, Chittesu Watanabe, born 1907 in Niigata, northern Japan, got this title on Wednesday in a nursing home in the city.
Let us tell you that the previous record-holder, Masajo Nonako, who was a Japanese, died last month and the world's oldest living person is also 117-year-old Ken Tanaka of Japan. Yes, Watanabe graduated from Agricultural School and then moved to Taiwan. He lived there for 18 years.
Let us tell you all that he married a woman named Mitsu and they have five children. At the same time, after the end of World War II, Watanabe returned to Niigata. After coming here, he did a government job till he retired. According to him, his longevity is his smile. Recently, when asked about his long life, he said, 'Don't feel angry and keep smiling'.
