New Delhi: Jasprit Bumrah, the star pacer who missed IPL 2023 due to a back stress injury, is set to make a comeback in the upcoming franchise tournament this year. Joining the Mumbai Indians' camp ahead of IPL 2024, Bumrah appears fully prepared and eager for the season.

In the previous IPL season, Mumbai Indians finished in fourth place during the league phase, securing a spot in the playoffs. They managed to defeat Lucknow Super Giants by 81 runs in the playoffs but faced a defeat against Gujarat Titans by 62 runs, failing to advance to the final. Eventually, Chennai Super Kings emerged victorious in the final, claiming their fifth IPL title, which equaled Mumbai Indians' record.

Photos shared by MI show Bumrah entering the team camp, dressed in a blue t-shirt, blue jeans, and white shoes. Despite missing IPL 2023, Bumrah remained active in international cricket, representing India in the 2023 ODI World Cup where he emerged as the fourth-highest wicket-taker with 20 dismissals. He showcased sensational form during the recent Test series against England, securing a total of 19 dismissals. Notably, he became the joint-fastest Indian bowler and the fastest Indian pacer to reach 150 wickets in Test cricket during the second Test.

Additionally, Bumrah achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the first Indian pacer to attain the no. 1 spot in the ICC Test Player Rankings, solidifying his position as the top-ranked bowler across all three formats.

In IPL 2024, Hardik Pandya will take on captaincy duties for Mumbai Indians, replacing Rohit Sharma. Hardik was released by MI ahead of the 2022 season, and subsequently, Gujarat Titans purchased him and appointed him as captain. Under his leadership, GT clinched the title in their debut IPL season and secured a runners-up finish last year. In a surprising move, Hardik transferred to MI before the auction and assumed the role of captain, marking a transitional phase for the franchise.

As the excitement builds up for IPL 2024, CSK is scheduled to face Royal Challengers Bangalore in the tournament opener on Friday. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians will kick off their campaign on Sunday, squaring off against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.
