Bollywood's famous veteran actress Jaya Bachchan is celebrating her birthday tommorow. Known for her natural acting prowess, Jaya started her acting career at the age of just 15 after being influenced by filmmaker Satyajit Ray. Jaya made her acting debut as the lead in the 1971 film Guddi. Apart from the film's journey, Jaya was also very much discussed due to her and Amitabh's love lives and personal attitudes, which sparked controversies. In 2004, Jaya stepped into politics and was also successful.
Born on April 9, 1948, in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, Jaya Bhaduri completed her schooling and acted in Satyajit Ray's Bengali film Mahanagar (1963) at the age of just 15. Thereafter, Jaya appeared in two Bengali films, Suman and Dhanya Meye. Working with Satyajit Ray in Bengali films, Jaya joined the Film and Television Institute in Pune, where she graduated with a gold medal. Impressed by her performance, Hrishikesh Mukherjee gave Jaya the lead role in Guddi (1971) opposite Dharmendra. This film became a huge hit. Then Jaya appeared in films like Jawani Deewani, Anamika, Uphaar, Piya Ka Ghar, Parichay, Koshish, and Bawarchi.
Jaya Bhaduri first appeared opposite Amitabh in Bansi Birju. Soon after, both were seen together at a glance. Jaya was making a mark in the industry with her brilliant acting, but Amitabh's films were constantly flopping. Amitabh Bachchan was in the lead role in Salim Javed's film Zanjeer, but due to his films being flops, no heroine was ready to work with him. Jaya acted in this film, which proved to be a tremendous hit. Together they worked on many films like Abhiman, Chupke Chupke, Mili, Sholay, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
