Bengaluru: After the embarrassing defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress is going through its toughest phase. The party's national president Rahul Gandhi himself is on the lookout for leaving his post. At the party meeting, he has said that no one is willing to take responsibility for the defeat. Other party leaders are keeping quiet on the defeat. In Karnataka, the Congress has blamed the ally JDS for the defeat. Senior JDS leader HD Deve Gowda is deeply hurt.

Former PM and JD(S) President Hd Devagoda said on Friday that he was "saddened" by Congress leaders' statement blaming the alliance with his party for the defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. "I felt sad when a Congress leader in the presence of the National General Secretary of the Congress at a meeting said that the party was in trouble due to the alliance with JD(S)," Devgouda said.

Talking to the press here, Devgouda said that after a hung result in the May 2018 assembly elections, the Congress leaders came to him with the intention to lead the HD Kumaraswamy coalition government. "We never said that H.D. Kumaraswamy should become the CM," he said.
