Heavy rain disrupts Mumbai life, 3 died of thunderstorm

Mumbai: The heavy rains in Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan, Palghar and adjoining districts of Maharashtra have exposed the BMC's drain cleaning claims. Three people were also reported to have died due to currents in the area. In addition, five people were also reported injured in the rain. According to information received from the BMC Disaster Management, three persons have lost their lives in two separate cases of the thunderstorm.

Four people were killed in the incident at Irwani Estate in Goregaon at 7:56 a.m., out of which 60-year-old Rajendra Yadav, 24-year-old Sanjay Yadav, was pronounced dead at the hospital. Two persons, including one child, are undergoing treatment. In Andheri (West) also, at 7:48 a.m., 60-year-old Kashima Yudiyar died due to a current. In addition, there were cases of house collapse at six places in the metropolis. The condition of two of the three injured is said to be critical.
