Patna: After Samajwadi Party (SP) national president and former CM Akhilesh Yadav in Uttar Pradesh, JDU leader Khalid Anwar was also seen singing Jinnah's praises. Talking to the media, Khalid Anwar said, "Mohammad Ali Jinnah was a great freedom fighter of a united India. Jinnah played an important role in the independence of the country. India was divided due to the congress's divide and rule.''

Not only that, but Khalid Anwar also compared Jinnah to Mahatma Gandhi. He said that we respect Mahatma Gandhi, but we do not want to despise any other freedom fighter. On the other hand, the BJP, an ally in the Nitish government, has hit back at Anwar for terming Mohammad Ali Jinnah as the country's biggest freedom fighter. The BJP has said in a blunt manner that those who love Jinnah can go and live in Pakistan. Samrat Chaudhary, BJP quota minister in the Nitish cabinet said "If anyone is still liking Jinnah, Pakistan's doors are open for him, he can be welcomed there. There is no place for such people in India.''

At the same time, RJD leader and Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha also termed the debate on Jinnah as "unfortunate" and a reflection of "lack of knowledge regarding history" and said it is being taken to divert people's attention from common issues. In fact, Khalid Anwar said this on Friday (November 12th) in connection with the controversy over former Law Minister Salman Khurshid's book. He also said that Khurshid's book talks about saffron terrorism. That is not correct. Giving any colour to terror whether it is saffron terrorism or green is not fair.
