New Delhi: Political strategist and Janata Dal-United (JDU) vice-president Prashant Kishore has questioned the silence of Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi on the issue of National Register of Citizens (NRC). In an interview to the media, Prashant Kishore stated, 'A statement from the interim president of Congress will clarify the Congress stand on the NRC issue. It is fine to take part in demonstrations and demonstrations, but it is unthinkable for the Congress President not to make a single official statement on this issue.'

Kishore says that the Congress President or the Congress Working Committee (CWC) should ask all Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled states to declare that they will not allow NRC in their territories. Kishore said, 'More than 10 Chief Ministers including Congress have said that they will not allow NRC in their states. Led by other regional parties such as Nitish Kumar, Naveen Patnaik, Mamta Banerjee or Jagan Mohan Reddy, the chief minister is serving as the chief of the parties. But this is not the case with Congress. Here CM cannot take the final decision. The CWC takes the final decision. '

Kishore further said that my question and concern is that why is Sonia Gandhi not officially saying that NRC will not be allowed in Congress ruled states? Kishore has targeted the Congress, saying that while in government, he did not amend this law and gave up the opportunity to do so further.
