Where the Country has reached the level of Digital India, there still some States whose fire station is without telephone connection. Delay in paying telephone bill of Rs. 859 cut the sole medium of communication between residents and lone fire station in Jharkhand’s Bahragora block, where at least 40 cases of fire at residential and commercial localities last year.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) had disconnected the telephone collection for this very reason of delay in paying telephone bill. For which the sitting legislator of Bahragora, Kunal Sarangi had to go door to door to collect the donation for paying the telephone bill.

Despite of the issue of paying the bill, there is also only 2 fire engines are stationed at Bahragora, one of which is defunct. And they had to manage the entire 2,094 sq-km Ghatsila sub-divison just two fire engines. This is not end yet, the resident of Baharagora Hrishikesh Bera told that Even if the fire engine does reach on time, it doesn’t have enough water to douse the blaze.

However, Sarangi said “we did it once, and we are ready to do it again. we will pay the bill from the party (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha) fund. This is how the government functions- it’s ridiculous that such a meager amount cannot be cleared by the authorities’’

Bill paid till May last year, but the telephone bill has been lying unpaid since then.
