Earlier, the procurement of the vaccine was being transported to the States by the Central Government, but later the Central Government entrusted the responsibility of purchasing the vaccine to all the State Governments, which is making the State Governments inability to buy the vaccine. Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren has now expressed his inability to buy the vaccine and has written to PM Modi demanding free vaccine.
CM Hemant Soren has written that 'They do not have the money to vaccinate the 18-44 age group, the economic conditions of the state are not what they can make for Rs 1100 crore, the same amount of money has to be charged for the purchase of the vaccine'. CM Hemant Soren said that the central government should buy the vaccine and give it to the state government as the situation will worsen if the Soren government alone charges the vaccine.
