Jharkhand govt scam in distributing toffee, T-shirts to children, HC dissatisfied with the reply

Ranchi: Toffees and T-shirts were distributed to children in 2016 on Jharkhand State Hoodday. There are also allegations of scams. The PIL filed in the case was heard in the Jharkhand High Court. The state accountant general appeared through video conferencing during the hearing in the high court. During the hearing, the government answered questions from the court. The court expressed dissatisfaction over the response and asked for the sealed original document to be submitted. The next hearing in the case will be on July 8.

A bench of Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court Dr. Ravi Ranjan and Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad heard a PIL filed on Jharkhand statehood day in 2016 to probe the multi-crore scam in the name of distribution of toffees and T-shirts. The justice heard through video conferencing from his residential office, during which the petitioner's counsel and the government advocate defended themselves from their respective residences through video conferencing.

AG also appeared through video conferencing during the hearing. Yachi's lawyer raised several questions on the reply given by AG. He also made several serious allegations. The court expressed dissatisfaction over the response of the AG and the government and asked them to produce the original documents in court. In the meantime, the court also made a series of serious comments orally stating that the high court also asked for the purchase of essential commodities, which were required to be purchased, but was reluctant to purchase them, pleading for the rule.
