New Delhi: Former CM Babulal Marandi has got a big relief from the Jharkhand High Court in the defection case. The Jharkhand High Court has stayed the notice issued by the Speaker. At present, the defection case which was to be heard in the Assembly has also been stopped. The matter will now be heard on January 13 in the Jharkhand High Court.

It is noteworthy that Vidhan Sabha Speaker Ravindra Charan Mahato sent a notice to Babulal Marandi in the defection case. This notice was challenged by Babulal Marandi in the High Court, which has been stayed by the court after hearing it. The bench of Chief Justice Sujit Narayan of Ranchi High Court has given its verdict. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Legislature Party leader and former CM Babulal Marandi won elections on the ticket of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha. After that, he merged his party with the Bharatiya Janata Party. The Speaker sent a notice to him. Babulal Marandi challenged that notice in the Jharkhand High Court.

Assembly Speaker Ravindra Charan Mahato was of the opinion that JVM had won 3 seats. Only Marandi joined the BJP, while the other two MLAs joined the Congress. If 1 out of 3 MLA breaks, then it is a violation of defection law and 10th schedule. Marandi was issued a notice under the 10th Schedule violations and anti-defection law.
