Chandigarh: Haryana Minister Anil Vij has reacted sharply to the objectionable statement made by former Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi about Lord Ram. Vij said that this person (Jitan Ram Manjhi) is a burden on the earth. He further said that, Lord Rama is inhabited by the people. There is a majority of Hindus in the country, they have faith in Ram and in such a situation it is very irresponsible to talk like this.

In fact, on Thursday, Manjhi had made an objectionable statement about Lord Ram and Ramayana in a program organized at Sikandra in Jamui district. He said that Ram was not a god. Rather he was merely a character in the Ramayana composed by Tulsidas and Valmiki. A lot of good things have been written in Ramayana, but that is only the story. This is not a real incident. It is not wrong to follow what is written in Ramayana, but they do not believe in Lord Rama.

After this statement of Manjhi, former Deputy CM of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi has hit back at Manjhi without naming him. Modi said that Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram is not only the hero of Indian history, culture and tradition, but also our ancestors. No one should hurt the sentiments of crores of Hindus by making absurd statements on his contemporary Maharishi Valmiki, whose history has been written in the form of Ramayana and whose indelible evidence exists from Ayodhya to Sri Lanka's Ram Setu.
