Mumbai: On the one hand, NCP leader and MLA Jitendra Awhad has sent his resignation to the Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. At the same time, NCP leader Ajit Pawar has asked him to withdraw his resignation. He reportedly said that the case against the party MLA has been wrongly registered and should be withdrawn.

It may be noted that a woman has filed an FIR against Jitendra Awhad for molestation. The woman alleges that when the new bridge was being inaugurated in Mumbra, then MLA Jitendra Awhad touched her with the wrong intention. Thereafter, a case has been registered against him. Then Jitendra Awhad sent his resignation to the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker. He said that he is resigning because two false cases have been filed against him in 3 days. Expressing regret over the recent incidents involving Awhad, NCP leader Pawar said when the screening of the Marathi film 'Har Har Mahadev' was disrupted, the man who was beaten up himself told that Awhad had protected him, but a case was registered against Awhad and he was kept in the police station overnight.

Ajit Pawar said, "In the second incident, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was in the program and Awhad was also present in the program. He is seen in the video asking people to be on one side (to make way) and is seen trying to turn the woman aside. Nothing happened there. This type of offence was registered even after the fact that Shinde was only 10 meters away from the spot.'' Ajit Pawar said that CM Shinde should come forward and explain that nothing like this had happened there. He said that no matter how he becomes the CM, Shinde represents 13 crore people of the state. Ajit Pawar further said that there may be political and ideological differences, but if such incidents keep happening then it is not good for the state. Many are of the opinion that there was no need to impose such a section (against Awad), But this is an attempt to harass a public representative. It is an act of cowardice. He said that this is being done to divert the attention of the people from the real issues.
