In the event of International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) world cup 2017, Jitu Rai marked his astonishing comeback by winning the gold medal and Jitu's countryman Amanpreet Singh won the silver medal in the competition.

Amanpreet, in a match, had a shot of 226.9, while the Jitu Rai shot 230.1, which is a new world record now. The Bronze medal was rewarded to Vahid Golkhandan.

Rai expressed his happiness saying that "It's amazing to win this gold medal here during the first combined World Cup held here in India, in front of my supporters. It's a great honor and a true emotion to see the Indian flag flying high."

"I didn't have a perfect start today, but I guess that's the fun of the sport. I like it that way, uncertainty is part of the game, otherwise, there is no excitement. I climbed into the lead shot after shot and I think it was a nice match," Rai further added.
