TV actor Pratyusha Banerjee, 24, was pregnant and had may be met with an abortion not long before her suicide on April 2, the news confirmed by doctors of JJ Hospital on Monday

A source close to the investigation aforesaid , "The findings showed that there was a conception few days or a month before her demise, and there was a premature death of the foetal cell." The products of conception, or the placental or foetal tissue in the uterus found following delivery, termination of pregnancy or a miscarriage, were infected and degenerated. That usually hints towards a secondary infection, probably occurring due to an attempt to terminate the pregnancy."

According to the statement of expert,"Since there are no tissues left or rather they were removed; it may be challenging to carry out a DNA test to establish the child's paternity,"

Dean Dr TP Lahane said, "We cannot reveal the findings. The report has been handed over to the police." Many departments are working simultaneously to establish the cause of Pratyusha's death. So far, the investigators only have a preliminary autopsy report which states the provisional cause of death as "ligature over the neck with asphyxia". Her viscera is being analysed at Kalina Forensic Science Laboratory, where experts will run chemical tests to look for traces of poisoning. Her hair, nail and blood samples have been preserved for DNA analysis.
